The Problem

The customer called and was asking about waterproofing. She said she was getting water in her basement. I told her we did water waterproofing and she asked if we did egress windows also. I told her, "Yes we do."

Proposed Solution

The client needed two egress windows and then a third window in the middle for the actual bathroom that they're installing in the basement. As we discussed the basement, we also found out she was having an issue with water getting in the basement, so we performed basement waterproofing services as well.

Result

The team has been fabulous. Fabulous. I really cannot say how extraordinary this team of people is. The way that they work together, how they know each other, how they support each other and their relationship with the client. Everyone knew what their job was. There was a great coordination. The men were, as I say, very, very respectful, both with the environment, with the property and with us. We’re very satisfied.

The Initial Call

The customer called and was asking about waterproofing. She said she was getting water in her basement. I told her we did water waterproofing and she asked if we did egress windows also. I told her, “Yes we do.” She asked how soon we can get her in. I asked where she was located. She said in Kearney, Missouri. I told her that I had a gentleman that was out in Holt right now this week working. I’ll see if he could run by there, and visit with her, and do a quickest submit to see what was going on. She said, “Okay.” I called Brian and he said, yes, he’d be able to get out there. We set up an appointment. He went out there. They liked it. They accepted the estimate and went from there.

The Structural
Consultation

She wanted to turn one bedroom into two, and she wanted to add a kitchen and then a bathroom in the middle. So during that process, we focused on where we wanted to put them, we went over how we would do them and we came up with the idea that we went over, which was two egress windows and then a third window in the middle for the actual bathroom that they’re installing so they get a little extra light on that side.

During the process of us going through it, we also went over what we do as a company as a whole, as of structural, waterproofing, sump pumps and issues like that. And then that’s what came up with her other issue that she had, where she was getting water in a finished side of her wall. We couldn’t exactly see where it was coming from from the interior, and outside there was a ton of bushes and AC units in the way. So as we went over the process, we came up with three different options that we wanted to do.

The first one was the full repair, which was tear down the entire wall, put up interior drain and wall shield and add a pump.

The second option was to do a cracked membrane seal if there was the crack on the wall.

The third one was a simple crack injection that we were going through. As we went through that, I gave her the worst case scenario first and then we allowed her to take down the wall to see where it was. When she took down the wall, she found the crack and I came back out, I assessed what was going on and all the water was coming from the crack itself. So what we came up with in the repair plan was to put in two egress windows, a smaller window for the bathroom and then a cracked membrane seal on that wall.

The Work

So we started the repair plan, and we started excavating. We put the plywood down, and we put the truck down to help save everything that we could so it didn’t cost any more in the future for the homeowner to do the landscaping or anything in that aspect.

During that process, we got everything dug, we got everything situated and adjusted. Then we had the concrete cut out.

Fortunately, the wall was 10 and a half inches thick versus eight. So it took a little bit longer, and there was a little more cleanup than normal, but everything went smooth from beginning to end. Each day that we got there, we got with the homeowner, we went over what we were going to try to accomplish that day. And at the end of the day, we went over what we did accomplish and asked if they had any questions about what was going on.

As a company, we want to make sure that the homeowner and the company are on the same page during the entire process. I don’t want the homeowner being confused or anything during any problem or project that we’re doing. We want to make sure everybody’s on the same page.

The Results

We knew there was a problem, of course. Water was coming into our basement. But we didn’t know what the fix required. So we had to really rely … This was an area that we didn’t have any expertise on. So we had to rely fully on whoever we were hiring to come and do a professional, good, long lasting, definite fix. I was researching many companies around the area, around the Kansas city area. We [inaudible 00:00:00:26], for this project, and I liked what I read. I liked what I saw. It gave me confidence and we contacted you. Brian has been our liaison all the time. He’s been fabulous since the very first day we met him. He’s very professional. He’s very empathetic. He really connects well. And he knows what he’s talking about. That knowledge gave us the feeling of security.

We felt good about it. Well, our first impact was the first day, when the machines came in and the crew of lots of people. I mean, we weren’t expecting so many people. And that made us feel well because it gave us the feeling that it was the timelines were going to be met, that the proper people was brought in, each one expert in their own little field. The team has been fabulous. Fabulous. I really cannot say how extraordinary this team of people is. The way that they work together, how they know each other, how they support each other and their relationship with the client, I guess you call us. Respectful, very good manners. For me, one of the things I was most impacted was the cleanliness, how everyone was so careful in what they were doing, meticulous.

And it really didn’t feel like an invasion at all. The work was getting done, but it wasn’t getting done in a stressful manner. Everyone knew what their job was. There was a great coordination. The men were, as I say, very, very respectful, both with the environment, with the property and with us. And that’s part of the work ethics behind this company that we have noticed. I was asked to put in writing what our thoughts were. And I just thought that writing doesn’t communicate the emotional part. And it really doesn’t put the happy face behind the letters and words. So I just felt it was fair that I told you in words. Oh, we’re very satisfied. We’re very satisfied. We really are. In many ways, not only the job itself, but the relationship with Brian, with the crew, with the company. It’s been three days of having the same people here, working full days. We think that we’ve got the problem solved.
